Algebra 2 Week 5

We had 2 students gone for class this week. We missed you both. One was able to attend on Google Hangouts. We used technology this week to simplify our life and to discover patterns. I have a demo on my blog to help you make scatter plots and find the best fit line (linear regression) using both Excel or Google Sheets. We also used our graphing calculator in class to discover the “trick” to finding the vertex for absolute value graphs. In the process we learned how to use it to graph equations. As a result we found that after we learned the “trick” it is easier to just put the calculator aside and do it faster without it. There are 3 lessons this week 2.6 had the  computer linear regression and also an extension of writing the equations of a line. We extended it to writing the equations in standard form. On 2.7 we now extended the graphing linear equations to graphing linear inequalities. For these we need to have solid or dotted lines, and we need to shade the result. For 2.8 we learned to graph absolute value equations and noticed some similarities with graphing lines, especially the slopes, but we have a vertex now. After using the calculator to find the pattern we had were able to fly through these. Please let me know if you have any problems on any of these and I can point you to some help. See you next week.
