Algebra 2 Week 7
We continued learning about systems of equations and inequalities today. Last week we solved them by graphing, but today we solved them with algebra and technology. The algebra portion was called substitution and elimination. We also furthered our knowledge of our graphing calculator and solved equations that cross at rational numbers. This week we will have 3 assignments, 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5, and quiz 3.2. We will have the last formula madness quiz for level 1 this week. Make sure you take it and bring it to the next class. Speaking of the next class, we will not have class next week. It is fall break. We will meet again on October 14. As always please let me know if you have any questions.

Algebra 2 Week 6
Everyone was here today. This coming week is a review and a test. We covered 2 lessons for the next unit. In 3.1 we are learning how to solve linear equations by graphing them, then in 3.2 we solved them by graphing them on our calculator. We sailed through these by watching me do some explaining and then doing several of them in our homework. We had about an hour left in class so we all worked on the Unit 2 Review together. We did the whole thing together. I wanted to work out any problems that everyone may have had. So that they feel confident on the test. I can send worksheets of any of the problems for you to do for more practice. I can also send out another review to do at home. I can make it have different questions. Please let me know if that would be helpful. You can watch the videos for more review. Please let me know if you have any questions. I would love to help all of you.

Algebra 2 Week 5
We had 2 students gone for class this week. We missed you both. One was able to attend on Google Hangouts. We used technology this week to simplify our life and to discover patterns. I have a demo on my blog to help you make scatter plots and find the best fit line (linear regression) using both Excel or Google Sheets. We also used our graphing calculator in class to discover the “trick” to finding the vertex for absolute value graphs. In the process we learned how to use it to graph equations. As a result we found that after we learned the “trick” it is easier to just put the calculator aside and do it faster without it. There are 3 lessons this week 2.6 had the computer linear regression and also an extension of writing the equations of a line. We extended it to writing the equations in standard form. On 2.7 we now extended the graphing linear equations to graphing linear inequalities. For these we need to have solid or dotted lines, and we need to shade the result. For 2.8 we learned to graph absolute value equations and noticed some similarities with graphing lines, especially the slopes, but we have a vertex now. After using the calculator to find the pattern we had were able to fly through these. Please let me know if you have any problems on any of these and I can point you to some help. See you next week.

Linear Regression on Excel or Google Sheets
You will be doing some of your assignments on the computer. It is important for you to use the modern technology to do your math work. I am giving you the instructions to do that here.

Algebra 2 Week 4
Today was extraordinarily fun. Each student was engaged and doing the problems, but we were able to have some jokes too. Each of them work so hard and feel comfortable to asking questions of me and each other. They are so fun to teach. Despite the technical issues I had at the beginning, we had time to do some of extra homework problems together after class. Please look at the calendar. We covered 3 topics in class today Graphing Linear Equations (2.3), Writing Linear Equations (2.4), then last Linear Regression 2.5. You will have a quiz this week. Don’t forget to do your Formula Madness Level 1C this week AT HOME. Bring everything to class to turn in to me. I will be sending out grade reports soon so you can see how your are doing. Please let me know if you have any questions.
