Algebra 2 Week 10

Yesterday's class went so smooth. I could tell that the students had studied for their formula madness quiz. This helps tremendously when we're doing our lessons. I want to remind you that we will be having a formula madness quiz in class next week for a grade. We studied more applications and did them with our graphing calculators yesterday. The first section we did yesterday we did all on a graphing calculators. This was to get ready for our test. The test will have two parts, one with the graphing calculator and one without.  Parents please make sure that when you give that test that you ensure that they don't use a graphing calculator on the appropriate section. This also includes the review sections, I intend for these two to be done as one assignment. There's just a practice one with the graphing calculator and one without. We covered only two sections yesterday  because there will be a test this next week. The second section started graphing quadratic equations. This was very similar to graphing absolute value equations. If you have any questions on this weeks assignments there will be videos on YouTube, you can text me, or send a message on GroupMe.

Algebra 2 Week 9

I want to start by saying that I am so proud of everyone on your hard work. I feel so privileged to teach each of you. Today students were to hand in Test 3. I have sent out progress reports to everyone. Please look them over and let me know if you have any questions. The new unit is covering topics that are not review at all. These topics are brand new and difficult. Something that will make it easier to understand for now and in the future is to memorize everything on formula madness level 2. We will continue to be introducing new topics for the rest of the year. If you have the formulas memorized you will do better. The best thing that you can do is do your homework each week, and ask questions to me when you don’t understand. Don’t let your work pile up. It will be hard to understand. I really want to help, do ask me questions. Those of you who do ask me questions don’t stop! Another thing that will be helpful are the videos on YouTube. Make sure you refer back to them. Please refer to your calendar for the assignments this week. Today we talked about having class on ???, so we could get out for Christmas break earlier. This would mean that you would need to do school during what is normally Thanksgiving break. PARENTS WHAT DO YOU THINK? Students talk it over with your parents and let me know. You may have relatives coming or you are traveling and you will not be able to do work during that week. I will be putting this recap on GroupMe but archiving it on my blog. I hope this helps everyone to be able to read it each week. Please let me know if you have any questions about anything. See you next week.

Algebra 2 Week 8

We finished our study of systems of equations and introduced matrices. The last section of the systems of equations was more story problems. Most students feel that story problems are difficult. I hope I gave them so tricks to doing these. Make sure you ask questions or watch the YouTube videos if you don’t understand. We started Unit 4 Matrices. These are just boxes to organize data. We learned how to add, subtract, and to do a type of multiplying called scalar multiplication.  I will be teaching you how to do them on your calculator. I challenged you to experiment to figure out how to do these on your own. You can play around or consult Google if you want. I also introduced the second level of the formula madness. I posted the answers for these in the Parent folder. You have 2 weeks to practice this before the official quiz. I will be surprising you next week with a in class quiz to see how you do and to see how many of you read these wrap up paragraphs. The quiz will just be for practice and not a grade. The practice quiz will have 20 questions even though level 2 only has 14 new formulas. I will take formulas from level 1. You don’t know what formula I will be taking. There is a review and test this week. Make sure you are successful on the review before you take the test. If you are not successful please get some help from me or someone else. I will have the videos up soon for the lessons. Let me know if you have any questions!
