President Fact sheets

We will be studying presidents soon. As I looked through the student resource packet that came with my curriculum I decided that I wanted some sheets similar to the state sheets that were provided. I wanted sheets that have specific places to write information about the president and a place for a picture of the president. I also didn't want to glue the fact cards that came in the packet, I want to quiz my daughter on them through out the time we are studying presidents. As a result I made some. I then thought that maybe someone has the same desire. So I am sharing them with you.

I got the pictures from a place mat. I will have my daughter cut them out and glue them on. I also found another file that could be great. Your child could color them and glue them on. You will have to print multiple to a page so that they will be smaller to fit here.
Another thing that we have been doing is singing the presidents song. I found this one it is very catchy.

I hope these are helpful. Please leave a comment if you have any questions or like them. Thanks

Weekly Game

I started something this year. On Fridays my daughter answers several questions as an overview for the week. If she doesn't know the answer she can look it up. It is not a test. These questions go on cards for a game. I started out with just questions from history, but branched out to science, math, and missed spelling words. We will add each weeks questions and have a large pot of questions. We made a game board and a spinner (dice can be used too). We will play with dad once a week. I also have a different set of questions for my son (age 4). When it is his turn he gets his questions. We use Lego people as our game pieces. Here is our game from this evening

King Saul: The First King of Israel

Tessa wrote this for English and History. She finished it today. She will need to proof it later.

Saul

Here is story of Israel's famous king named Saul. There are three main facts about this famous king. Saul is the first king of Israel, he is tall and handsome, and he starts off a godly man but then becomes evil.

The Israelites wanted a king so they could by better in battle and they wanted him now. So God told Samuel, the prophet of the day, to go find the man whom He had chosen, named Saul, anoint him and crown him king.  To be a king you didn't have to be rich, wealthy, or smart, though that may help, but you have to look like a king which means you have to be tall, handsome, and strong. Saul was all of these. Saul started off as a very godly man but then, of course, he got proud of his riches and his power. All of these got in the way of his walk with God, he became evil, and that led to his own destruction.

In conclusion King Saul is rather famous.  King song is famous because he is Israel's first king, he's tall and handsome, and he starts off as a godly man but then becomes evil.
